Week 1 of Science class!

Our first week of science class was a blast! Literally! We made a volcano using household objects and ingredients. We are focusing on chemistry for this session so the explosion was created by a chemical reaction between baking soda and vinegar!

December Facebook Fan Drawing!

We will be doing another Facebook fan drawing on December 18! The prize for this drawing is a Parents' Night Out event for 2 children, along with a 15" fuzzy friend for each child (a $70 value) to be used in the year 2010. Winter Session Classes!

We are so excited to begin a new session of classes! Below is a list of the classes we will be offering for our 10-week winter session. This session of classes will begin the week of December 7. There are different payment options - you can pay in full when you sign-up, or you can make three equal payments with a card on file during the 10-week session. Art with a Groove Mondays 4-5pm

We'll explore art, music, creative movement, and making believe all in one! This class is geared toward 3-7 year olds. The cost is $90/child for the 10-week session.

Geography Society Tuesdays 4:30-6pm

Children ages 7-12 get hands-on knowledge of the world! This year's focus will be on our own United States! The cost is $90/child for the 10-week session.

Science Club Wednesdays 3:30-4:30pm

We'll explore chemistry this time in Science Club! We'll learn using experiments, projects, and hands-on learning. By the end of this session, your children will be Jr. Chemists! This class is for 7-12 year olds. The cost is $90/child for the 10-week session.

Book Club Wednesdays 4:30-5:30pm

Hands-on projects and group discussions to inspire your kids to read even more! This class is for 7-12 year olds. The cost is $90/child for the 10-week session.

Masters of Art Thursdays 4-5pm

We will learn about a different artist each week and explore some of their techniques using various mediums. This class is geared toward 4-8 year olds. The cost is $90/child for the 10-week session.

Observational Drawing

Do you want to draw but you feel like you can only draw stick people? Come and train your hand and eye to work in unison as you develop your drawing skills! Because of the intensity of this class, it is meant for children ages 9-adult. The cost is $120 for the 10-week session (includes supplies).

Multi-Age Creative Class

Do you want to be creative and don't know where to start? Come learn about your personal style and how to have fun expressing yourself! All ages welcome, but children under the age of 9 must register with an adult. The cost is $120 for the 10-week session (includes supplies).

Art 101

All projects in this class will focus on the principles and elements of design, the foundation of creating and interpreting all works of art. Various mediums will be used. Ideal for ages 7-12. The cost is $120 for the 10-week session (includes supplies).

Draw/Paint/Sculpt

This class is focused on techniques of various drawing, painting, and sculpting mediums. This class is for ages 10-adult. The cost is $120 for the 10-week session (includes supplies).

Hooray! My 1st print, "Vibrance", in the series "Four Seasons" is ready! I am very happy with it. It will only be available through the end of January. I already have the 2nd in the series ready to go, but it will not be available until December 1st.

This is printed with archival pigment inks on 100% rag museum quality paper. The print measures 12"x12". Please remember that moniters can vary the colors from the true image. But I can tell you, this is FULL of autumn colors.

This is an 11x14 pencil portrait of my son that I am working on. Sometimes I forget how soothing drawing can be. Until my daughter sees this, then I will have to hurry and do her one. I wonder if I can hide this so hers can be peaceful as well? Probably not...lol.

In the Night Birthday Party Invitation for Girl

One of my nieces is turning 12 this month. That in between age is sometimes difficult to come up with ideas for. Most girls this age don't want anything "babyish" and definitely not "old ladyish"!

I came up with this series to fit in with this in between group. It has a bit of sophistication, without too much formality. I can see using it for a sleepover, especially a Twilight sleepover! Since most kids this age don't like anything TOO organized, how about some movie trivia? Or come dressed as your favorite character, or even a murder mystery? Love it!

I had fun making these cute little monster invitations. I love the scooby-doo colors that give it kind of a retro look. They could be used for a halloween party invite or a monster theme birthday party. They are 5.5"w and 8.5"h and include kraft paper envelope.

At our last monster theme party, we had the kids design their own little monsters out of terry cloth in bright colors. They turned out looking like ugly doll knock offs. Super cute and a BIG hit! Exciting Times!

We have exciting news! Our newly renovated website is now up and running! Check it out!

*We'll be at the Palladium movie theater this Friday for our "Where the Wild Things Are" movie release event. For those who have signed up, it's going to be awesome!

*On Friday, October 30, our neighbors at Studio 104 will be hosting Operation Smile Costume Day. We'll collaborate with them at our studio by having fall and Halloween crafts from 11am-6pm. The proceeds from the event will go back to Operation Smile. Get your kids dressed up and bring them out for pictures and crafts!

*On Saturday, October 31 from 10am-2pm, we'll collaborate with Celebration Station to celebrate Halloween! On Friday, October 16 from 6-9pm, we'll have a special Family Night Out movie event for "Where The Wild Things Are" at Regal Palladium Cinemas 14! You can leave the kids with us and enjoy a night out, or you can join in on the fun! ROOM REDO and WEARABLE ART summer camps!

Come join us at From Art to Zebras for summer camp! July 27-30 we will be holding two fantastic art camps! The first, Room Redo is a camp from 9-12:30 where you will bring your room dimensions and we will map out your dream room using the elements of design and your imagination. We will design and make accessories to go along with your dream room too like light switch covers, decoupage lamp shades, and hand stitched pillows that you design! The cost for this camp is $120. The other camp, Wearable Art, is from 1-3 in the afternoon and in that camp we will make art that you can wear! Don't limit art to a canvas, express yourself in what you wear! Sunny Summer Fun!

We hope you all enjoyed the 4th of July holiday! We're coming back with a bang with some awesome special events and camps!

We have Storybook Celebration this Friday, July 10 from 4-5pm. We'll read Olivia Forms a Band, make our own musical instruments, and have a musical snack. The cost is $9/child or $15/family.

We also have Parents' Night Out this Friday, July 10 from 6-9pm. We'll watch "Hotel for Dogs," stuff puppies of our own, create unique dog tags, play games, and have pizza and dessert. The cost is $25/child or $20/each for 2 or more.

This is the last week to sign up for our Jungle Fever Camp, A2Z Survivor Camp, and Natural Art Afternoon Artist Colony which take place July 20-23.

The Jungle Fever Camp is from 9am-12:30pm. We'll go bananas as we make our own stuffed jungle animals and let loose with lots of games and wild activities. The cost is $120.

The A2Z Survivor Camp is from 9am-12:30pm. Outwit. Outplay. Outlast. Loads of mindnumbing challenges and extreme activities. Don't worry, you won't be voted off! The cost is $120.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July, everyone! We hope you all enjoy the holiday, celebrating our nation's independence and spending time with your family! We have an awesome event for you to put on your calendar! On July 8, 9, and 10 from 10am-12pm, we are doing an Acrylic Paint Workshop. The kids will learn all about acrylic paint and different tools that can be used with it. Summertime Fun!

Our summer has gotten off to a great start here at From Art to Zebras! The first summer camp, "Take a Chill," was a huge hit with the kids! They greatly enjoyed stuffing polar animals, creating a snow village, and making their own ice cream! Our "Weird Science" Camp was a blast! The children explored science by participating in ooey, gooey, experiments. The children's favorite was definitely making flubber! Our "ReClaimed Art" Afternoon Artist Colony was a success as well! The children used recycled materials to make their own unique creations. Our next camps are July 13-16. From 9-12:30pm, we have "Magic Treehouse Adventure #5-8." We'll travel through history as we explore the next set of Magic Treehouse stories and create our own adventures! This camp is for ages 4-7 and 8-12, and costs $120. Spring Fling at Greensboro Icehouse

This Saturday, April 25th, we'll also be joining the Greensboro Icehouse for their Spring Fling event! In addition to ice skating, Chick-fil-A will be there with their cow. This Saturday, April 25th, we'll be joining the All-A-Flutter Butterfly Farm for their Family Day! They offer a fun-filled day with Monarch butterflies as well as a picnic area for lunch. Parents' Night Out!

Enjoy a night out and drop the kids off with us this Friday, April 17 from 6-9pm, for Parents' Night Out! We'll watch Bolt and do superhero crafts and games! We'll also have pizza and dessert. The cost is $25/child or bring a friend and pay $20/each. Please RSVP by 4pm Friday, April 17. It's going to be an action-packed blast, so don't miss it!

Happy Holiday!

Hi there! We hope everyone enjoys the holiday weekend! We still have a lot going on at the studio next week, so come join us while you have a break!

Movers & Shakers on Monday, April 13 from 10:00-10:45 a.m. It's Animal day this week! We'll have a wild time acting like our favorite wild animals! We'll practice our animal moves, make animal masks, and play animal games! The price is $5/child or $10/family with 2 or more children. Please RSVP and let us know your little one will be moving and shaking with us!

Storybook Celebration on Monday, April 13 from 4:00-4:45 p.m. and Tuesday, April 14 from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Bring your green thumb this week! We're going to read Planting a Rainbow and do some planting of our own! The price will be $5/child or $10/family with 2 or more children. In addition to these classes, our studio open 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday - Friday for craft-making! Drop in and make a spring craft with us!

Hello everyone! It's a new month and we've got a lot of great things planned for you! Here's what's going on at From Art to Zebras next week!

Movers & Shakers on Monday, April 6 from 10:00-10:45 a.m. It's Music Day! We're going to experience music in several different ways. We'll be listening to music, drawing to music, dancing, and playing games! The price is $5/child or $10/family with 2 or more children. Please RSVP and let us know your little one will be moving and shaking with us!

Storybook Celebration on Monday, April 6 from 4:00-4:45 p.m. and Tuesday, April 7 from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Get ready to go wild! This week we're reading Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. Spanish Storytime is this Wednesday, April 8 from 2:00-2:45 p.m. "Margaret y Margarita" Come listen to the sweet story of friendship! Looking Ahead...

Parents' Night Out on Friday, April 17 from 6pm-9pm. Drop off the kids and have a night out while the kids have a blast. We will be playing the movie Bolt along with some superhero activities, pizza and snacks. RSVP by 4pm on Friday the 17th. $25 or bring a friend for $20 each! All ages welcome (must be potty trained).

Long time - no talk but we're back!

Hello everyone!  It's been a long time, but we're still here!  We've been busy, busy, busy at the studio with classes, birthday parties, and special events.  Now spring is here and registration for our summer camps is open!  Here's what we've got going on this summer:

Take a Chill  June 15-17  9am-12:30pm

Ages 4-7.  Come cool off with us as we make our own stuffed penguin pals, banana splits, and lots of cool games and crafts!  $95  

Weird Science  June 22-25  9am-12:30pm

Ages 4-7 and 8-12.  Join us for some gooey, slimey experiments and awesome activities.  We will even create our own edible inventions!  $120

ReClaimed Art - Going Green! Afternoon Artist Colony  1pm-3pm

Ages 8-14.  Express your creativity while recycling, reusing, and reinventing using common everyday materials.  $75

Magic Treehouse Adventure #5-8  July 13-16  9am-12:30pm

Ages 4-7 and 8-12.  We will travel through history as we explore the next set of Magic Treehouse stories and create our own adventures!  $120

Art Through the Ages Afternoon Artist Colony  1pm-3pm

Ages 8-14.  Come explore some of the past Masters of Art while we use their works to inspire our own.  $75

Ages 4-7.  Join your favorite storybooks as they come alive in the exciting drama camp.  We will create characters, storybook backdrops, and props.  $120

Ages 8-12.  Bring your roomdimensions and we will map out our dream room using the elements of design and your imagination.  We will even design some accessories to add to your ideal living space.  $120

Wearable Art Afternoon Artist Colony  1pm-3pm

Ages 8-14.  Don't limit your art to canvas.  Express yourself in what you wear!  From head to toe, show the true you.  $75

Backyardigans, Bust a Move!  August 3-6  9am-12:30pm

Ages 4-7.  Music and movement, paint, and pretend.  If your kids like  Backyardigans, they will love this week's camp!  $120

Around the World in 4 Days  9am-12:30pm

Ages 8-12.  We will explore various parts of the world and its different cultures, customs, and traditions through art, games, and food.  $120

Art in Motion Afternoon Artist Colony  1pm-3pm

Ages 8-14.  This week we will be making art that is made to move, like handmade kites and mobiles.  $75
